Using an app to support management of post COVID-19 condition
During the pandemic, the Oxfordshire Post COVID service commissioned the use of the Living With Covid Recovery app to support the management of patients diagnosed with Long COVID. It has had large benefits for both clinicians and patients in its multi-function ability to provide excellent resources, enable symptom tracking, monitor energy expenditure and enable patient accountability directly with the service. As of late 2022, there are 510 registered users in the Oxfordshire Post COVID service.

Clinician and patient feedback
‘I will always check a patient’s dashboard before a consultation so I can help to direct the conversation, and assist in understanding when and where there may have been dips in recovery or increases in symptoms. It helps the patient to understand how useful the information is for them and for us.’ – Emma Tucker, Post COVID Rehab Specialist, Oxford Health NHSFT.
‘In our Fatigue Management workshops we encourage the use of energy mapping and/or activity diaries. Being able to encourage the completion of these within the app is so useful for patients and to show an example taken from within the technology’. – Rachael Rogers, ME/CFS Clinical Lead, Oxford Health NHSFT.
‘Being able to use the app to track changes in my symptoms was really positive for me to be able to see how far I had come on days where I would feel really low and negative about my recovery.’ – Anonymous Oxford Health patient.
